Free zone company in the UAE: every zone, one honest comparison
Seven authorities, seven price logics, one question: which total is actually lowest for your visa count and your bank. This is the whole 2026 map with the real numbers — the same ones our emirate guides verify at source.
- Ownership
- 100% foreign
- Corporate tax
- 0% if QFZP qualifies
- Zones compared

How much does a UAE free zone company cost in 2026?
One table, every zone we cover, the same verified numbers as our emirate guides. Entry price is the zero-visa government cost; the "logic" column tells you what the headline hides.
| Free zone | Entry cost, year 1 | Pricing logic |
|---|---|---|
| Ajman Free Zone | AED 5,555 | Advertised tiers — reconfirm at quote |
| SPC / Shams · Sharjah | AED 5,750 | Cheap entry + per-case add-ons |
| RAKEZ · Ras Al Khaimah | AED 6,000 | All-in package, visas bundled |
| ADGM tech · Abu Dhabi | USD 1,500 (≈ AED 5,510) | Official schedule — eligibility applies |
| Meydan FZ · Dubai | AED 12,520 | VAT included, add-ons itemised |
| IFZA · Dubai | AED 12,900 | Modular — first employee visa free |
| DMCC · Dubai | AED 50,985 | Premium — audit and capital required |
Zero-visa year-1 rates, 2026. ADGM converted at the 3.6725 peg.
- Every figure comes from the same verified sources as our emirate guides: official schedules where published (ADGM, IFZA, Meydan, DMCC), zone-advertised rates where not (Ajman, SPC, Shams, RAKEZ) — each guide states which is which.
- Entry price is not total cost: visas, renewals and workspace change the ranking. RAKEZ at AED 14,000 with 1 visa beats several zones whose cheap entry doubles once a visa lands.
- Every free zone company gets the same federal rules: 100% ownership, nationwide residence visas, 9% corporate tax above AED 375,000 profit with 0% for qualifying free zone income (QFZP), 5% VAT above AED 375,000 turnover.
Free zone renewal costs: the number providers hide
The entry price gets the click; the renewal decides whether the choice was right. Three renewal logics exist — flat all-in, published per-item, and reconfirm-per-case.
Annual renewal from year 2 (zero visas)
| Free zone | Annual renewal |
|---|---|
| RAKEZ | AED 6,000 — same as year 1, flat |
| Meydan FZ | AED 12,520 — same as year 1 |
| IFZA | From AED 12,900 |
| ADGM commercial | USD 5,000 (cheaper than year 1) |
| DMCC | AED 38,910 |
| Ajman / SPC / Shams | From published rate — reconfirm |
Visa renewal every 2 years
| Logic | Zones |
|---|---|
| Bundled in package — AED 0 extra | RAKEZ |
| Published per-item rates | IFZA (~AED 900 first visa), Meydan, DMCC |
| Quoted per case at renewal | Ajman, SPC, Shams |
Every visa holder re-runs the federal medical and Emirates ID steps on the two-year cycle regardless of zone. The full renewal tables per zone are in each emirate guide — this page ranks the logics so you know what you are signing up for.

Free zone companies and banks, honestly
Every UAE bank opens accounts for free zone companies daily — and every UAE bank declines some too. The variables are your activity, your flows, your residency and your file; the zone name moves the needle less than providers claim, with two real exceptions: DMCC and ADGM open doors faster, and the very cheapest licences invite more questions.
What we do: we prepare the file the way compliance teams want to read it and introduce you to banks that match your profile — including fintech alternatives when a traditional account is slow.
What nobody can do: guarantee an approval. The decision always rests with the bank. Anyone who promises you a guaranteed account is overselling — that is the test to run on any provider you talk to.

Free zone companies: your questions, with numbers
How much does a UAE free zone company cost?
Year-1 entry government cost (zero visas) in 2026: Ajman Free Zone from AED 5,555, SPC and Shams in Sharjah from AED 5,750, RAKEZ from AED 6,000 all-in, ADGM tech startup licence USD 1,500 (≈ AED 5,510, eligibility applies), Meydan FZ from AED 12,520 (VAT included), IFZA from AED 12,900 and DMCC from AED 50,985. Each figure is verified in our per-emirate guides. Service fees are always separate.
Which is the cheapest free zone in the UAE?
On entry price, Ajman Free Zone at AED 5,555. On predictable total with visas, RAKEZ: AED 14,000 all-in with 1 visa, fees bundled, renewing flat. On the cheapest Dubai address, Meydan FZ at AED 12,520. "Cheapest" depends on your visa count and renewal horizon — we run the real total for your case before you choose.
What exactly is a free zone company?
A company licensed by one of the UAE’s free zone authorities: 100% foreign-owned, trading internationally by default, with residence visas for founders and staff. It differs from mainland (which sells inside the UAE without restrictions) and offshore (which cannot trade or sponsor visas at all).
Do free zone companies really pay 0% corporate tax?
Qualifying free zone income can remain at 0% under the QFZP regime; everything else follows the federal rule — 9% only on profit above AED 375,000. Whether your income qualifies depends on what you sell and to whom (activity and substance rules). We assess it before you commit, not after.
How do I choose between the zones?
By profile, not headline: cost-driven founders end up at Ajman, Sharjah or RAKEZ (entry AED 5,555–6,000); client-facing businesses that need the Dubai address pick Meydan, IFZA or DMCC (AED 12,520–50,985); funded startups and finance choose ADGM for common law (from USD 1,500/year). Our per-emirate guides carry the full numbers for each.
How many residence visas can a free zone company sponsor?
It depends on the package or facility: RAKEZ bundles quotas of 0–3+ into its price, SPC allows up to 25 and Shams up to 50 per licence (visas quoted per case), and Dubai zones price per visa on published schedules. Every visa is a federal UAE residence visa valid nationwide.
Can I live in Dubai with a company from another emirate’s free zone?
Yes. UAE residence visas are federal: a visa sponsored by RAKEZ, SPC or Ajman Free Zone lets you live, rent, drive and bank in Dubai exactly like a Dubai-sponsored visa. Many founders run the licence where it is cheap and the life where they want it.
Does the choice of free zone affect the bank account?
Less than providers claim, with two exceptions: DMCC and ADGM open doors faster, and the very cheapest licences invite more questions. What compliance actually reviews is your activity, flows, residency and file quality. Nobody can guarantee an approval — the decision always rests with the bank.
What do free zone companies cost to renew?
Three logics: RAKEZ renews flat at the same all-in price (AED 6,000–22,000 by quota); Dubai zones renew on published schedules (Meydan AED 12,520, IFZA from AED 12,900, DMCC AED 38,910); budget zones like Ajman and Sharjah renew from their published rates, reconfirmed at renewal. Visa holders re-run federal medical and Emirates ID steps every two years.
How fast can a free zone company be ready?
The licence takes hours at SPC, days at most zones, and one to two weeks at ADGM. The residence visa adds 1–3 weeks of federal steps, and the bank account runs in parallel from days to several weeks depending on profile.
Do I need an office for a free zone company?
No. Every zone bundles or offers a flexi desk (shared workspace) that satisfies the legal address requirement — real offices are optional upgrades. This is a key difference from mainland, where an Ejari-registered lease is mandatory.
When do I need mainland instead of a free zone?
When you sell inside the UAE without intermediaries, need consumer-facing premises, or bid for government contracts. For international services and trading, a free zone does the job with lower entry cost and the QFZP tax option — see our mainland LLC guide for the full comparison.
